Attorney Karl Bender
Attorney Karl Bender received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1981 and his law degree from University of Toledo College of Law in 1984. From 1978 to 1982, he was an instructor at the UAW Education Center at Black Lake.
Karl also has been with Cooper & Bender, P.C. since the beginning, and has personally handled thousands of Social Security Disability and Workers Compensation cases.
Recognizing his many years of tireless representation of injured workers, Karl was inducted into the American College of Worker Compensation Lawyers in 2016 (an honor given to less than 1% of attorneys nationwide each year).

Attorney Jacob Bender
Attorney Jacob Bender graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University. He also graduated Cum Laude from the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was on the Dean’s List and was a Contract Law teaching assistant.
While in law school, he had the distinction of serving as contributing articles editor on the University of Toledo’s Law Review. He is also a published author on Social Security Disability and a guest speaker/presenter on disability issues.
Since receiving his law degree, Jacob has strictly specialized in representing the disabled. Jacob practices extensively in federal court. A well regarded appellate lawyer, his advice is routinely sought on both Social Security Disability and Workers Compensation appeals.
Jacob is admitted to practice in both the Eastern and Western U.S. District Court of Michigan, and has argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court.
Notably, he is also a committee member of the Workers Compensation Section Council of the State Bar of Michigan. When not at work, Jacob enjoys spending time with his family and building furniture in his workshop.
